Here are the answers to a few questions you might have about the Trig Point Card. If we’ve missed anything out, just ask us in store

Who can have a Trig Point Card?
Anyone who shops regularly at Out & About can apply to hold a Trig Point Card. You do not need to be a member of a club or organisation. The card is issued to an individual and can not be transferred for use by anyone else.

What benefits are available with the Trig Point Card?
Holders are entitled to a minimum of 10% discount on all purchases from Out & About over the value of £10, excluding maps, books and SALE items. From time to time additional discounts will be offered, either on specific items or for a specific period of time. You may also be invited to Open Evenings for Trig Point Card holders only, where additional discounts will be available.

How long is a Trig Point Card valid for?
Your card will be valid for a period of two years from the date of issue.

Can my card be re-issued after it has expired?
Trig Point cards are issued to regular customers and to retain your card you need to use it. If your card has been used during its validity period, it can be re-issued once that period has expired.

How Many Trig Point Cards are available?
We reserve the right to restrict the number of Trig Point Cards in circulation at any one time to a number that we can comfortably administer. We will advise customers by notification on our website if the scheme is not accepting any new applicants.

What if I lose my Trig Point Card or it is damaged?
Please contact the store that issued it and they will cancel the card and issue you with a new one.

What personal information about me will you retain?
We aim to keep the personal information we retain about our Trig Point Card holders to a minimum. It will be limited to your name, your primary email address and a record of the occasions on which you have used your Trig Point Card.

How will you use this information?
Firstly, we will not share your information with anyone else for any purpose. We will use your information for the purposes of administering your membership of the Trig Point Card scheme only. We will use your email address to contact you when additional discounts are available or special events are being held. We aim not to bombard you with emails and anticipate that we will contact you on average bi-monthly. If you do not wish to receive emails from us at any time you can contact us and ask to be removed from our mailing list. We will use our record of the occasions you have used your card purely as an indicator of the fact that you are a regular customer and to determine if the card can be re-issued on expiry.

Will any existing discount schemes be continuing?
If your club or society currently has a discount with us, this will no longer be available but your members will be very welcome to hold a Trig Point Card as an alternative. The only ongoing alternative discount schemes will be those promoted on the websites of the British Mountaineering Council and the Mountaineering Council of Scotland.
